Product Description

The apparatus consists of a crank and slotted quick return mechanism, which is driven by a constant speed synchronous motor. Stroke length of the ram is adjustable. A pen is attached to the tip of the ram, under which a paper roll is slowly pulled by another synchronous motor. As ram moves to and fro, the displacement of the ram is recorded over the paper. An arrangement is provided to mark the degrees of rotation of the crank, at the intervals of 100.
The graph obtained over the paper gives ram displacement diagram, i.e. X- diagram. The tangent to X- diagram at any point gives the velocity of ram at that point. Thus, finding velocities at various points gives the velocity diagram, i.e. V- diagram of the ram. Tangent to V- diagram gives the acceleration of the ram at that point. Thus, a- diagram can also be drawn. Thus students can draw all the displacement, velocity and acceleration of the ram. Also, from X- diagram, crank rotation angle during cutting and return stroke can be measured and the ratio of cutting time to idle time can be determined.
