Product Description
Fins are added on the surface to increase the heat transfer rate. The ‘Swarg Systems & Instruments’ apparatus allows to compare the performance of finned tube with plain tube. It consists of basically two heat exchangers operating in parallel. The heat exchangers are concentric tube type, in which inner tube carries hot fluid while cold fluid flows outside it. Hot fluid is hot water, which is obtained from water heaters. Cold fluid is air, which is supplied by a blower simultaneously to both the heat exchangers. One heat exchanger is provided with plain inner tube while the other is with finned tube. Thus by keeping the same parameters like flow & inlet temperature for both the heat exchangers, comparison of both heat exchangers for heat transfer rate & heat transfer coefficients can be carried out. The heat exchangers can be operated either as parallel or counter flow type.

1. Heat Exchanger-
- Inner Tube – 16 mm O. D. copper tube – 1 no. for plain tube heat exchanger.
- Inner Tube – 16 mm O. D. copper tube with 15 mm height, 6 nos. longitudinal fins on outer dia. .-1 no. for finned tube heat exchanger.
- Outer Tubes – 50 mm NB G. I. pipe for both heat exchangers. Test length – 1 mtr.
2. 1 HP capacity blower to supply air – 1 no.
3. Geysers – 3 Kw cap. – 3 nos.
4 Orifice with water manometer for air flow measurement – 2 nos.
5 Suitable valves for flow & direction control.
6 Thermometers – 8 nos.
7. Measuring flask & stop watch for water flow measurement.
A technical manual accompanies the unit.
