Product Description

The apparatus consists of a heavy rotor mounted in bearings. The rotor is driven by a variable speed motor. The motor weight is balanced by weight plate form on another side of motor. By putting weights on to the weight plate form, torque can be supplied to rotor. Mounting of rotor is such that it can move about three axes. by measuring the applied torque angular – velocity of precession, it can be shown that applied torque equals to Gyroscopic couple, i.e. I.. P.
SPECIFICATIONS :

  1. Rotor 250 mm. dia., 10mm. thk. mounted in bearing for rotation about three axes, driven by a variable speed motor.
  2. Dimmerstat to control the rotor speed.
  3. Weight set of 0.2, 0.5, and 1kg. Weights, one each, to apply torque.
  4. Angular scale and stop clock to measure velocity of precession.

SERVICES REQUIRED :

  1. 230V, AC stabilised supply with earthing connection.
  2. Bench area of 0.75 m. (approx) at working height.
  3. Tachometer for speed measurement. (it can be supplied at extra cost)
