Product Description
The apparatus consists of a slider crank mechanism, which is driven by a constant speed synchronous motor. Stroke length of the slider is adjustable. A pen is attached to the tip of the slider, under which a paper roll is slowly pulled by another synchronous motor. As slider moves to and fro, the displacement of the slider is recorded over the paper, which is sinusoidal wave. An arrangement is provided to mark the degrees of rotation of the crank, at the intervals of 100. The graph obtained over the paper gives displacement diagram of the slider crank mechanism, i.e. X- diagram. The tangent to X- diagram at any point gives the velocity of slider at that point. As one determines velocities at various points, it gives the velocity diagram, i.e. V- diagram of the slider. Tangent to V- diagram gives the acceleration of the slider at that point. Thus, a- diagram can also be drawn. Thus students can draw all the displacement, velocity and acceleration of the slider crank mechanism. Also, from X- diagram, crank rotation angle during cutting and return stroke can be measured and the ratio of cutting time to idle time can be determined.
