Whenever a column is subjected to compressive load it has tendency to buckle, even though the load is well below the safe limit. The ‘Swarg Systems & Instruments’ apparatus provides means to study the principle. The rigid uprights hold the top end of column. Top end holding bracket can be adjusted to suit length of column. Compressive load is applied to column at bottom end through lever and weights. A dial gauge provided measures the deflection of beam. Free and fixed end supports are provided so that column can be tested with different end conditions.
